Sparky

Mutt Memorial

Sparky was Mutt #3 at the Mutt Motel. Sparky’s owners surrendered him, at 15 years old, because they no longer had time to care for him. So, we happily accepted Sparky into the Mutt Motel where he quickly became one of our favorite Mutts. We were over the moon when our trainer’s mother adopted him, knowing that we would continue to have contact and pup-dates.

Following adoption, Sparky’s new owner threw him a Sweet 16 birthday party in February 2023 and Sparky had never looked happier. He and his new owner were 2 peas in a pod. Cuddles, kisses, and naps were without limit.

Sadly, on September 2nd, 2023, Sparky laid down for what would become his final nap. He passed peacefully in his sleep and will now live forever in our hearts. We wish to extend our deepest condolences and gratitude to Rosemary, Sparky’s fur-ever mom; condolences for the loss of her sweet Sparky and gratitude for adopting him in his final years and giving him the best end-of-life he could have hoped for.

Unfortunately, senior Mutts like Sparky are often over-looked in shelters and rescues. Potential adopters know their time with them will be short. Please know these senior Mutts don’t have that same reference frame. In fact, adopting a senior Mutt is one of the most compassionate acts us humans can make. We can give these Mutts the love and care they need as they near Rainbow Bridge.

Senior Mutts Need Love Too

Anyone wishing to view or adopt a senior Mutt from the Mutt Motel can start with our Senior Mutts Category. Note: If we do not currently have any Senior Mutts available, this page will say “It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.” If that is the case and you are interested in a senior Mutt, please email adopt@mikaelasmuttmotel.org and we will reach out to our Shelter Partners to determine availability.
